Creative and Digital continues to be a success story for Kent, with the Dover Beacon project set to further boost jobs, talent and opportunities in the sector.
Work began on a key part of this multi-million-pound landmark development in Bench Street, Dover late last year with completion set for Spring 2026.
Folkestone-based contractors Jenner has been appointed by Dover District Council for the construction of a four-storey building, to be known as The Bench, which will be the catalyst for future investment.
The Dover Beacon project is set to deliver over £90m of economic benefit, including a further education campus focused on the creative and digital industries.
A business start-up centre, meanwhile, will provide high-quality flexible office space for small and medium sized businesses. There will also be a new creative centre providing a home for contemporary filmmaking, digital creativity and immersive art.
Cllr Kevin Mills, Leader of Dover District Council said: “The Dover Beacon project will provide an incredible boost to Dover and the area, supporting regeneration, providing business and creative spaces, and creating exciting new jobs and access to education, training and skills opportunities for young people.”
Martin Sandall, Managing Director of Jenner said: “The investment made into these new facilities will have such a positively profound impact upon Dover town centre and beyond, and we are proud to play such an instrumental part in this regeneration project.”
Dover Beacon has been part-funded by the UK Government including £18.1m from the Levelling Up Fund and £2.3m from the Future High Street Fund.
