Active Life, the charity behind the multi-million pound transformation of Kingsmead Leisure Centre in Canterbury, is inviting expressions of interest from providers who would like the opportunity to run the cutting-edge café, childcare provision and therapies, ahead of the flagship centre’s grand reopening later in 2024.
This marks another step forward for Active Life, a registered charity, who are investing circa £8m into the centre, featuring a brand-new gym, dedicated ‘Intencity Studio’, three new fitness studios, health suites, café and a new entrance foyer.
The flagship health and fitness centre that will set new standards for facilities, access and sustainability for health and wellbeing in the heart of the historic city. The extensive transformation works will also make dramatic improvements to the swimming pool, changing facilities and sports hall to create a bigger, better experience for all.
The new operators will part of an investment that will breathe new life into facilities that have been enjoyed by many communities in the district over the years and will support the mission to ensure many more families can benefit from them in the future.
Derek Hambridge, Centre Manager, said, “We are really excited to be at the point where we can seek innovative and ambitious partners who can support our vision for first-class facilities that the community can be proud of for years to come.’’
“Inspiring healthier eating, engaging our younger visitors with fun activities and offering our customers with opportunities to achieve harmony in body, mind and spirit, are all part of the values we have for the centre.
‘We’re looking forward to hearing proposals from interested parties who may want to be part of bringing a new premium, community-focussed leisure offer to Canterbury.”
