Locate in Kent assisted The Wooden Spoon Preserving Company, in securing finance to invest in new equipment, a new warehouse, freezer store and new kitchens at its premises at Coldharbour Farm in Wye.
The company, which Managing Director Jeff Higgins describes as fostering ‘a cluster of artisan excellence’, also created three jobs during the expansion.
The Wooden Spoon Company produces its own ranges by hand, processes rapeseed oil for Chapel Press, undertakes bottling and distribution for The Fudge Kitchen and has taken over the Darenth Valley Pickling Company.
“It is an important USP for the company that we are based in Kent – it is a wonderful location for our business. The county’s high speed rail links to London are without a doubt a benefit to us in facilitating visits from our customers.”
As part of the investment, The Wooden Spoon Company built a new kitchen for Karimix UK, an ethnic range company, which has moved into its premises and will be sharing other facilties and resources.
